A Saturday at the English Fellowship...
Saturday was fun! Our first event PJ! Post Jamie! Jamie, you would be proud! Everyone had a great time!
Like all good Baptists....we ate first!! Then Ryan and Amanda started off by telling everyone in attendance about themselves....their family, their reason for being in Peru, etc. Then we divided up into small groups to play some games. It was a lot of fun! My team won!!
There were a couple of new folks and the rest were regulars. Everyone seemed to enjoy visiting/talking with the native English speakers in attendance. Those were...the Weavers, the Bushes and Alan and Sandy Stone from Birmingham, Alabama who are here visiting Mike and Kathy for a week. Alan has been on a trip with Mike every year for six years and sometimes two times a year. This is Sandy´s second trip.
Please pray for Amanda as she takes over the administration of the English Fellowship and Translators´Ministry. She has come into this post in the midst of one of the busiest periods of the year. This month alone there are eleven in-country teams with over 30 translators needed.
Pray for our translators....especially those who do not know the Lord. Pray that the teams with whom they travel will be sensitive to the Lord to use them to be "salt and light" before these wonderful friends who need to know our Savior.
Also, pray for Mike and Alan as they leave on Monday for a brief trip up into the mountains of Yauyos (the southernmost province of the state of Lima). Pray for Kathy as she continues to cook this week for other teams coming soon.
Also, pray for Steve King (our supervisor) and Jeana Tabor (a colleague on the REAP North Team) as they travel to Glorieta, New Mexico (Steve) and Ridgecrest, NC (Jeana) to represent REAP and Xtreme Team in promoting 2006 missions needs/requests. These two sites are the locations for the annual university student national conferences. There will be a combined total of some 5000 in attendance at both. Pray that they Lord will use them mightily and that many will show interest in coming to Peru next year to assist in "reaching the unreached".
Continue for SMT05...our six summer missions teams serving throughout southern Peru. They have less than three weeks to go. Pray the Lord will continue to use them to reach many for Him. So far, they have presented the Gospel to 1480 and seen 144 saved. Many bible studies are on-going and there are many more yet to hear about HIM! The research team is identifying dozens of new areas that will be adopted and engaged sometime in the future. Thank you Lord for your care and guidance!
